Does the growth of construction prices continue?

According to the Real Estate Information Center (REIC), the rise in steel prices continues to influence the growth of the housing construction price index in the second quarter of this year, which increased by 5.6% year-on-year, which is the highest level in 40 quarters.

The housing construction price index in the second quarter of this year was 131.2, which is 5.6% more than in the same period last year, and 1.1% more than in the first quarter.

The second largest increase was in prices in the field of electrical engineering and communication systems, where prices increased by 5.4%, followed by architectural work by 2.3% and wages in plumbing systems by 1.4%.

In building materials, growth was observed in six groups, with the largest increase being 27.5%, with steel and steel products followed by sanitary products (12.9%), wood and wood products (8.1%), concrete (6.3%) and equipment for electricity and water supply (4.9%).

Only tile prices fell by 3.2%, while steel and steel products also saw an increase of 7% compared to the previous quarter, and other goods increased by less than 0.5% compared to the previous quarter.

The increase in fuel prices has had a strong impact directly on the manufacturing and transport sectors.

The 5.6% annual increase in the housing construction price index in the second quarter was the highest since the second quarter of 2012, when the annual growth was 12.9%.

The growth of the index began in the second quarter of last year with an increase of 1.4% to 1.9% in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, and then jumped by 5.3% in the first quarter and 5.6% in the second quarter.
