The purple branch of the MRT subway will be launched in August this year

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a plan to attract credit funds for the construction of the purple metro line project. The total distance of this section is 23.6 km, and the total budget is about ฿8.2 billion.

The Public Debt Control Authority is expected to provide a loan to the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) at the first stage for ฿10,800 million in June this year. Then the loan will be issued to all other contractors in early July.

The contractor is expected to be engaged in the construction in August. However, the issue of a permit for the construction of a railway near such state institutions as the Royal Thai Armed Forces School, the Royal Thai Army Artillery Armament Department and the Nakhon Chai Si Road area has not yet been settled – this is the first section to be handed over to the contractor to begin construction. If the delivery of this site is postponed, it will affect the implementation plan of the entire project. It is planned that the construction will take 2005 days (about 5 years). The opening of the last station of the purple line is scheduled for the end of 2027.
