The number of Thai elite visa holders has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic. In 2022, 5,582 visas of this type were issued, which exceeded expectations (it was planned to issue about 4,407 visas). The most visas were received by Chinese citizens – 3,131 visas (35% of the total).
At the beginning of 2021, an amendment was made to the rules for obtaining a visa. Now people who invest more than 10 million baht ($270,000) in the country can apply for it. In the Thai real estate market, this is the price of an elite apartment in a condominium or a large private house.
Among Russians, the average price of real estate purchased in Thailand is 3-5 million baht.
