The Ministry of Finance monitors the situation with the new strain «Omicron» and concludes that economic activity can move forward, as there is no need for quarantine.
K-Research reports that Omicron is rapidly gaining momentum and also quickly ending. The epidemic is expected to last until the second quarter of 2022.
Porchai Tiravey, Director of the Fiscal Policy Department (FPO), said that the Ministry of Finance was monitoring the epidemic situation with Covid-19 and the Omicron strain. The measures announced by the Coronavirus Disease Management Center 2019 (CDC) will not significantly affect the Thai economy. It is possible to continue various economic activities as usual while tourism activity preserves.
As for the suspension of the Test & Go program, this will affect Thailand’s tourism sector only in the short term, and will gradually recover after the relaxation of such measures. The Ministry of Finance will officially assess and forecast the Thai economy in 2022 on January 28.
