The debtor assistance program continues its work

Debt Clinic program continues its work, which helps debtors with overdue debt (NPL) on credit, credit cards, mortgages and other types of debts by increasing repayment periods and lowering interest rates in order to reduce the monthly burden of the debtor to a manageable level. Initially, the project covered people who had a debt on October 1, 2021. Now, until May 1, a person who has a debt on April 1, 2022 can apply.

In addition, in connection with the spread of COVID-19 during 2020-2021, Debt Clinic project provides additional assistance measures. The ability to pay the debt was affected by a decrease in the income of the population during the pandemic. Under the terms of the program, the debtor must pay 40% of the loan amount, and additionally he will receive a discount of 1-2% per annum.

Since the opening of the debt clinic project and until the end of March 2022, 26,701 debtors participated in the project, with a principal debt of about 6 billion baht.

The project helps to support the country's economy. Besides, due to the project, more people decide to take out a loan or mortgage, which affects the country's real estate market.
