Chinese tourists will take advantage of their free time during Labor Day week by going to Southeast Asia. A study by Divatravel, a global travel company, found that Thailand is the most popular destination for mainland travelers, with Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam among TOP-10.
It is expected that foreign trips of Chinese tourists during the Labor Day week, which runs from April 29 to May 3, will exceed the pre-pandemic level. Divatravel found that the number of hotel bookings abroad this year increased by 18% compared to the same period in 2019. The average length of stay at the hotel is two nights.
The increase in the number of housing bookings is associated with a sharp increase in the number of flight bookings from mainland China for the week dedicated to Labor Day. Travelport found that they increased by 331% compared to last year, with the majority of flights going to cities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Southeast Asia is the most popular destination for Chinese tourists during Labor Day week for a number of reasons. Thailand surpassed its estimates for the first quarter: 6.15 million people visited the Kingdom at the beginning of the year. The government predicts that 25 to 30 million tourists will arrive by 2023, more than twice as many as last year.
This shows that Chinese tourists and investors have really returned to Thailand and this will have an impact on the real estate market in Thailand.
