Thai Airlines predicts early exit from financial rehabilitation

Thai Airlines (Thai Airways International) says that the company may exit the financial «recovery» and resume trading in shares earlier than originally expected.

According to the head of the finance and accounting department of THAI Chai Imsiri, the reduction of the airline's expenses and measures to optimize operations and financial indicators will increase revenues. Due to these events, the airline will be able to solve the problem of suspending trading with the Thai Stock Exchange (LSE) until the deadline of 2025.

After the easing of travel restrictions, the airline's operating losses fell to 3.1 billion baht in the first quarter of this year, compared with 6.9 billion baht in the same period last year. Recall that during the pandemic, the company suspended its activities.

Meanwhile, the International Air Transport Association has revised the financial performance of the aviation industry for 2022. The industry's losses are expected to decrease to USD 9.7 billion from the initial forecast of USD 11.6 billion. In its revision, the association pointed to increased demand for travel — a trend that, in its opinion, continues as more and more countries move to ease restrictions.

We can expect an early restoration of the company's activities at the international level.
