September-December 2022 – opening of the yellow and pink branches of the MRT subway

The Department of Railway Transport states that the construction of the yellow line on the Lad Prao – Samrong section and the pink line on the Khe Rai – Minburi section has progressed and is about to be finished. Thus, the project of the yellow branch was completed by 91.7%, and the pink one – by 86.51%.

The trial run will take place from September to December 2022 for three months, when the branches will be open to users for free.

The deadline for commissioning of these branches was delayed due to a labor shortage, as foreign specialists could not come to the country due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Meanwhile, China, which is a country that produces electric trains, is still limited by COVID-19, which makes it as far behind the planned launch dates of metro lines as possible.

By the middle of 2023, both branches are expected be put into operation. The fare will be from ฿14 to ฿42 (depending on the route length).

The opening of new stations will affect real estate prices. The metro construction will improve the infrastructure of the district.
