The State Railway of Thailand has confirmed that rail transport will be developed throughout Thailand from north, northeast and east to south. The route will start from Bangkok and reach Chiang Mai. Then there is the Northeastern Line stretching from Bangkok to Nong Khai. The Eastern line, on the other hand, will connect Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang and UTapao airports and will run from Bangkok to Rayong. Finally, the southern line will be divided into two phases below:
- Step 1: from Bangkok to Hua Hin, connecting five different stations: BangXiu, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi and Phetchaburi, with Hua Hin. It will stretch for 211 kilometers and should be completed by 2032.
- Step 2: from Hua Hin to Padang Besar, Malaysia, connecting eight different stations, namely Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phattalung, Hat Yai and Padang Besar, Malaysia. It will stretch for 759 kilometers and is expected to be completed by 2037.
The extension of railways will affect the cost of real estate in the regions. The first stage of construction from Bangkok to Hua Hin will affect real estate in Hua Hin and surrounding areas, which may be a good time to invest.
