The province of Pathum Thani, that is the part of the urban agglomeration of Bangkok, faced terrible problems with traffic on the roads for a long time. Traffic jams in the province are no different from those in Bangkok. Traffic on some roads exceeds 140,000-160,000 vehicles per day. Today the province has two electric train lines: the red line Bang Sue - Rangsit and the green line Mo Chit - Khu Khot, which get longer and enter deeper into the region.
The joint committee meeting of 3 private sector institutions of Pathum Thani province was held. At the meeting, Lieutenant General Phon Kamronwit Tupkrachang, the head of the Pathum Thani Provincial Government, said that the traffic problem was getting worse every day and efforts should have been made to solve this issue.
At the meeting, a decision to create 3 more electric train routes was made. This will lead to the improvement of the road issue and the development of the province's districts. With the construction of new train routes, prices for real estate and land increase in the regions, the infrastructure will also develop. The local budget will provide 5 billion THB for the project. It is also planned to attract private investment.
The new routes will consist of 3 new segments:
- the continuation of the red line will connect the station Rangsit - Talad Rangsit - Future Park Rangsit, 2 km long;
- line 2 will be connected with the green Line: Khu Khot Station - Sema Pha Kham Road - Rangsit Road - Nakhon Nayok - Future Park Rangsit, 9.3 km long;
- line 3 will be connected with the red line: Thammasat University Station - Talat Tai - Wat Dhammakaya, 6 km long.
Municipal authorities and large local investors supported these projects.
