The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Land Department have established Regulations on the Exploitation of land that has been abandoned, not used or left as a wasteland.
When considering a piece of land that has been abandoned, unused, or left as a wasteland, it should be borne in mind that simply fencing the land or paying local taxes will not be considered sufficient to consider the land used.
If the site is being planned and the site is maintained in order, then it will not be considered abandoned.
By January of each year, the provincial administration will check the presence of abandoned sites on their territory. Moreover, the plots of land purchased in the property are set for a period of 10 years, after which the abandoned plots will be seized by the state. For a long-term rental, this period will be 5 years.
The first time this law was adopted in 1979, but since then no process has been carried out to seize land. However, now the state is determined to actively use its rights under this law. Therefore, it is recommended that people who have rights to land visit and tidy up their plots of land.
