«Digital Economic Zone» for fintech companies

«Digital Economic Zone» for fintech companies

On March 24, 2022, a seminar on «Digital assets changing the rules of the game» was held during which Setta Tavisin, president and CEO of Sansiri Company, proposed the creation of «Digital Economic Zones» in the country.

Seta Tavisin said that attracting new classes of digital assets will have a positive impact on the lives of Thais. Digital technologies are not limited to the financial industry or the crypto industry, business sectors such as hotels, airlines, department stores, etc. will also benefit from the development of the industry.

In addition, there are many cities in Thailand that are known to foreigners. If you look at the example of Singapore, it is a country where many crypto communities or fintech companies live. And most of these people are people with high purchasing power. Thus, if we develop special zones with comfortable conditions for digital companies, it will help the development of the country's economy as a whole. By adopting special laws, special tax and visa measures in specific economic zones, the Thai government will be able to attract foreign investors and freelancers, crypto communities or fintech groups. The representatives of these areas are wealthy and solvent people, which will have a positive impact on logistics, trade, hotels, airlines. Lots of businesses will benefit from the presence of fintech specialists in the country.

Thailand already has a positive experience of creating Special Economic Zones near the borders with neighboring states and the Eastern Corridor zone, which covers three eastern provinces of Thailand - Chonburi, Rayong and Chachengsao for the development of these regions.

Seta Tavisin suggests creating digital zones in Phuket, as it is one of the most famous resorts in the country and many freelancers engaged in the digital sector will be happy to go to this paradise.
