Bangkok ranked second in the world after Lisbon (Portugal) in the global ranking of 80 cities for digital nomads. The city has shown good results in key areas: accessibility, weather, landscapes and transport. This award shows that Bangkok is a modern developed city with affordable fast internet and mobile communications. The city has more than 15,000 affordable high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots, excellent transportation options and some of the lowest housing prices in the world.
The Thai government has set a goal to develop the attraction of digital nomads as part of the campaign «Visit Thailand, 2022: Amazing New Chapters».
Bangkok was also one of the two Asian cities ranked in the top ten cities in the world according to the results of the survey, Seoul took 7th place.
Studies have shown that there are already 35 million digital nomads worldwide, and it is believed that with the development of technology, the popularity of remote work by 2035, this number could reach one billion. Forecasts say that every third working person will become a digital nomad.
Apart from Bangkok, Thailand also offers other popular destinations ideal for digital nomads, such as Phuket, Koh Samui and Chiang Mai.
